Frequently Asked Questions

PLEASE ADD TO THIS LIST OF INFORMATION REQUIRED BY CONTACTING THE WEBSITE.
  • CELLPHONE USAGE AT CAMP:  There are a few areas which allow reception; however, there are not many of these in camp.  If you need to contact the carekeeper, please use the telephone at the back of the Equipment shed as the call display will indicate it is Camp Creina calling--otherwise your call may not be answered.

  • WHAT IS NOT PROVIDED IN THE CAMP CUPBOARDS AT THE CAMPSITES?  The camp cupboards provide the rudiments of camp equipment, the rest you must bring to camp.  ALWAYS bring:  cleaning supplies like dish soap, bleach, rubber gloves, lat-cleaning supplies (Pine-Sol etc).  Bring your own sharp knives, clean cutting boards, dish towels, garbage bags, oven mitts, paper towels and toilet paper.  The picture on the campsite page gives a view of what is included.

  • WHAT IS NOT PROVIDED IN THE CAMP CUPBOARDS AT THE RESIDENTIAL SITES?  The Residential camp cupboards have more equipment than the campsite, in that there are various numbers of cutlery and kitchen utensils, a few dishes and serving items.  Bring your own sharp knives, clean cutting boards, dish towels, garbage bags, oven mitts, paper towels and toilet paper.  Always bring cleaning supplies like dish soap, bleach, rubber gloves and lat-cleaning supplies (Pine-Sol etc.)

  • CAMP CLEAN-UP:  Camping equipment is open to the elements so requires special care so that all campers can enjoy using it.  No one wants to arrive at camp to mildewed plastic or someone else's burnt offering at the bottom of pots.  Please be sure to DRY everything well before returning to cupboards--pots must be scoured clean then dried on the stove before re-stacking.  Plastics must be towel-dried, then air-dried--do not stack tightly together.  Please take home ALL that you brought--do not think that the next camper can use it.  Garbage should be sorted and taken home--or better yet, sent home with a camper & parent.

  • LIQUID DISPOSAL PITS--What are they and how do we use them?  Liquid Disposal pits (LDP) are a pit dug into the earth and filled with gravel.  Please put a J-cloth or other disposable cloth over the pit to catch the "chunks" that escape into the water.  At the end of the day, pick up the cloth, squeeze out excess liquid and throw into the garbage or into a good-burning fire.  Put a fresh cloth on for the next day.  Teeth brushing should also be done over the LDP.  Be sure that the cloth is removed at the end of camp, and disposed of--we do not want to encourage "critters" or other wildlife to hang around.

  • CAMP CRESTS:  There are two types of crests at Camp Creina, the "first time camper" and "souvenir collectibles"--currently there is a choice of 4 different collectible crests.   ALL crests are kept in the equipment shed in a small valise.  Crest sales are "on your honor"--take number required, indicate this in the receipt book, take the top copy and add the amount to your camp fee.  Pay with one cheque.

  • DOGS: No dogs/ horses / animals are allowed at  Camp Creina.
